Today we completed our final science investigation of 2021. We tested the durability and absorbency of a range of materials to find the best cloth for wiping down surfaces. Eventually, the children decided that the thick, yellow cloth had the best balance of durability and absorbency.

We then celebrated with a Christmas Party. We played party games, had a disco and won prizes.

Year 4 have worked very hard this half term, and we could not be more proud of them.

Well done year 4!

Have a fantastic holiday,

What a busy December so far!!!

Date: 12th Dec 2021 @ 6:34pm

Hi Everyone!

What a busy few weeks we have had in 1AI...

A few weeks ago I got the opportunity to speak to 1AI grown ups face to face or through a telephone conversation for our first parents' evening of this academic year. It was lovely to speak to all the parents/carers and discuss how the children had settled into life in Year 1.

Last week we had not one but four performances of the KS1 Nativity 'It's a Baby!' with Year 2. It was a busy week but the children were amazing and really shone with their performances, singing and acting skills. I still can't believe that it was put together in a week!!!

Next week we have Christmas Party Day, CC experience to finish off our materials topic, Christmas Dinner, Behaviour treat along with lots of Christmas challenges in the areas around the classroom.  There could even be a possibility of a visit from the Father Christmas over zoom - Fingers crossed!!!

Sing a Song of Christmas!

Date: 10th Dec 2021 @ 5:06pm

Well done to both Nursery Classes who did a FANTASTIC job today at our Sing a Song of Christmas showcase!

You all worked so hard getting ready for the show, from learning your songs to creating your own sparkly hats. We will be uploading lots of pictures from the show next week, but here are the links to the songs we used if you would like to relive the fun over the weekend...

Nativity!

Date: 10th Dec 2021 @ 1:14pm

Wow!

What a week to come back to 1JH! Our little superstars did FOUR amazing performances of our Nativity story: "It's a baby!". I was blown away on Monday watching it for the first time and I am sure you were just as impressed when you came to see it on Tuesday. The children were so excited getting to perform to you, so thank you for coming!

Yesterday I got to show off the great progress the children have been making this year at Parent's Evening. If any of you who had a phone conversation and would like to meet face to face I would be happy to do this in the new year on a day that suits you after school. :)

On Monday, we have our Christmas Party! Thank you to those of you who have offered to bring in snacks for the children - your kindness and generosity is greatly recieved and I am sure the children will be very excited to share with their friends.

One more week to go and I'm sure it will be a great one! Have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday.

Miss Higgins :)

Robot Football Match!

Date: 29th Nov 2021 @ 12:43pm

We have been practising our coding skills using 'Blockly' to help us programme a robot. We were challenged to make the robot move forwards and backwards, make its eyes change colour, make it make a sound and move the kicker. We then applied all the skills we had learned to have a robot football match!
