Celebrating Comic Relief!

Date: 19th Mar 2021 @ 3:03pm

4CB have enjoyed celebrating Red Nose Day today!

We began the day by learning about a child called Ethan, who attends a 'Steps' centre which is funded by Comic Relief. The centre has helped him improve his walking, as well as supporting many other children with their development.

We then had a joke competition! 4CB have a great sense of humour, and choosing a winning was difficult.

The votes were very close, but we eventually decided on our favourite class joke, the winner was....

Dereck!

Why was Cinderella so bad at soccer?

Because she was always running away from the ball!

Well done, 4CB :)

Vikings and Saxons

Date: 16th Mar 2021 @ 10:21am

Year 4 are looking at the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons this half term. This week we have been comparing pictures and maps and concentrating on the new vocabulary.

Our Amazing Arctic Small World

Date: 14th Feb 2021 @ 3:41pm

This week the weather inspired us to create our own arctic world. It's the kind of place that our friend Noi would live in, with arctic hares, beluga whales, arctic foxes, polar bears and snowy owls on the icebergs and in the chilly sea. The children in our class are so creative. They used all of the things that they could find in and around the classroom, to create models. Thankfully it snowed so we could create a setting for the animals to play in too! Watch out for the polar bears - they will eat lots of our characters up

So much to celebrate!

Date: 14th Feb 2021 @ 3:39pm

This week in school we have learned about Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year with the colour red! Red is the colour of love and a lucky colour for Chinese people too. We’ve been reading instructions to make cards, writing Chinese numbers and words, designing and making masks (Did you know there is an animal attached to the year you was born in? We are all monkeys and goats in our class) and today we made the most beautiful lanterns!

We hope you have a fabulous half term that is full of luck and love. We can’t wait to get back to more learning after the half term break.

Take care everyone

Learning about Captain Sir Tom Moore

Date: 14th Feb 2021 @ 3:26pm

UPDATE! Look at our display in the picture and video at the bottom of this post.

Over the last few days we have been learning about an amazing person, Captain Sir Tom Moore. Miss Cogger showed us a photograph of him and we could tell by looking at him that he was very old. We discovered that on his last birthday he was 100 years old. We tallied 100 candles on the board in groups of 5 to get an idea of how much 100 is. We were amazed to find out that Captain Sir Tom had walked around his garden 100 times to show how thankful he was to our doctors and nurses.

In our class we shared our experiences with each other and thought about how we could challenge ourselves and show that we cared for people in the NHS. We think doctors and nurses are so special.

We decided we would draw and paint pictures and then write about how we could make someone feel special while in hospital. We also thought we would set our own 100 challenge by running around the bike track 100 times! So far we have completed 40 laps, 20 from the children our class and 20 children from Mrs Ganner’s class. Watch this space to see the display we are going to make with our work and how we are counting our laps with tally marks.

It is important to us to show we care.
