World Book Day

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 1:56pm

We have had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day today!

We were lucky enough to have some generous adults come in to read with us as part of our ‘Share a Story’ activity and we then got to go and share our stories with different children from around the school.

Check out our brilliant and creative outfits…

World Book Day

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 1:51pm

We had such a good day for World Book Day, we shared our favourite books and characters with other children in school.

In our class we had a quiz to test our book knowledge. It was so much fun competing against each other. Each group did extremely well and got more than 10 answers correct. The winning team was the princesses and the hero! well done!

Our Trip to China

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 1:50pm

Today 2JB went to Beijing.

We all had boarding passes and travelled on a plane, we had to go through security and baggage claim. Once we arrived in China we had a guided tour around the famous landmarks of Beijing. We visited the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the Birds Nest Stadium.  It was so much fun!  We then took a quick flight home in time for our parents to pick us up at home time.

Science week

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 1:45pm

On Friday 16th March, Year 2 investigated what happens when you mix milk, food colouring and washing up liquid together.

Fist we carefully poured milk onto a plate.

Then we dropped different coloured food colouring on to the milk. We used orange, blue and pink food colouring.

Next we put a cotton bud the was covered in washing-up liquid into the centre of the plate.

Our Results

We observed how the food colouring moved around the plate when we touched the milk with the cotton bud. This is because the milk contains fat, the washing-up liquid bonds with the fat in the milk and the food colouring is pushed out because the bond is so strong.

Science week

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 1:42pm

In Year 2 we used our scientific enquiry skills to predict what would happen when we used food coloring in milk to make dancing fireworks. We investigated the impact of the amount of washing up liquid to really get things moving.

Toy day

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 1:38pm

We were allowed to bring in our toys from home as part of our Connected Curriculum topic ‘Toys Alive!’

It was the best day ever! We got to play with our friends toys and had so much fun. We decided which toy was our favourite and took a picture using the camera. We then made a pictogram to see which toy was the most popular toy in our class.

Science Week: from Egg to Chick

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 1:33pm

Trip to the Farm

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 1:30pm

Well that was a very exciting trip to the farm. We fed the lams and petted lots of animals including a lama, some owls, rabbits and chicks. We then had some lunch and went to find out how the cow’s are milked. Did you know ice-cream is made from milk? We then went for a donkey ride and even had time for a tractor ride before getting the coach back to school. A lot of us were so tired on the coach that we fell asleep!

Our Class Experience

Date: 16th Mar 2018 @ 9:10am

We had a lot of fun explaining our learning from this half term to Year 3. It was great to be able to teach them everything we had learnt about the Mayans and to give them an idea of what they might be learning next year!

Guess who…

Date: 16th Mar 2018 @ 9:08am

Take a look at our completed Mayan masks – aren’t they fantastic? We worked really hard on them!
Can you guess what type of mask they are? Or who is behind them…?

Our Egg-citing Eggxperiment!

Date: 16th Mar 2018 @ 9:06am

Today we planned an experiment to investigate the effect that different drinks have on our teeth.

First we cracked our eggs so that we could see the inside too and placed them into beakers.  Next, we measured out 200ml of the different liquids. Finally we poured the liquid onto our egg shells and left them to soak on the windowsill.

Check back for updates to see if anything happens!

Mayan Baking

We have been learning about Mayan food in our Connected Curriculum lessons so today we had a go at making some of our own!

We learnt some new baking vocabulary and techniques including ‘rubbing’ and ‘kneading’ and we practised our measuring skills too.

We think they look great! They tasted pretty good too!

The Hero Twins!

On Thursday we are having our ‘launch’ to introduce our new topic. All of the children are going to be Vikings and experience what tough, exhausting work they had to face when trying to move to new land. Healthy Living Day

Date: 15th Mar 2018 @ 4:35pm

Today we had a very exciting and informative day, learning all about how to lead a more healthy lifestyle.
In the morning, we became ‘Drink Detectives’ and explored how much sugar was in some of our favourite drinks. We were very surprised with some of the results!

We also got to do some exercise and dancing with Mrs Howse and Mr Carley.

Miss Warner taught us some yoga moves. We struggled at first but we got the hang of it! We were very surprised at how difficult it was, and how tiring!
