A Space Adventure with Sean

Date: 15th Mar 2018 @ 8:11am

Sean is our coach and he comes from Manchester City to help us learn how to exercise and move in lots of different ways. He also teaches us skills.

Today he took us on a space adventure! Don’t worry, it’s not real, it’s just pretend. There were moon rocks to jump over and holes to avoid. At one point an alien chased us and we had to run away and hide! Can you guess which part of our adventure we are on in these pictures?

Ordering Length

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:43pm

Do you know what you need to do to compare the length of 3 objects?  We experimented and found out that the important part is to make sure they all start at the same place

If they don’t start on the start line then we can’t find out which one is the longest and shortest and which one is in between.

After experimenting we could start them in the right place to compare length.

Egg!

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:42pm

A mysterious egg appeared this morning! Who had left it? What could be inside? Do you know what could be in it????

Then we found a book and we were quite nervous about what we read!

Comparing weight

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:41pm

If you can compare the weight of 2 objects you can find out the order the weight of three objects. here are our steps to success

  1. Find out which one is the lightest off all of them.
  2. Then compare the other two the find out which is the heaviest .
  3. The last one goes in the middle because it’s not the heaviest or the lightest

This is how to do it:

Heavier or Lighter?

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:39pm

Do you know how to tell if something is heavier than the other object? We do! Look at our pictures finding out.

World Book Day 2017

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:39pm

We’ve had an amazing day today celebrating our love of books. We swapped books with our friends, had an assembly to show off our outfits and listen to stories, we read books on the whiteboard.  There were visiting penguins and iron man and princesses and so many interesting characters to look at and talk about.

In the afternoon we drew our favourite book characters to make a quilt to display around school.  Have you seen it?

Settling into nursery

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:16pm

We are really settling in to the Autumn term and what a busy couple of weeks we have had! We have been learning about all the different things we can make and do in the different areas in the classroom such as the reading, writing, small world, construction, computer, sand, water, maths, roleplay and home corner.

We have also been learning how to plan where we would like to play and how to talk about what we have enjoyed doing. So please ask us when we get home.

We have also been learning about how to look after our classroom so that it is safe and ready for us to play in everyday. Look at what a great job we are doing.

We have also been exploring the school grounds and finding lots of lovely autumnal leaves and things to bring inside for our investigation area. Lots of children thought that the conker was a dragon egg!

A hen came to call

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:15pm

On Friday we had a very special visit form the hen that laid the golden egg. She was very friendly but has not been named yet which seemed like a perfect opportunity for a name competition.  Can you think of a name that might suet her?

Look at some of the pictures we have drawn of her.

Can you guess what new story we are reading?

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:14pm

When we arrived at school this week we found someone had left lots of strange things in the playground including a golden egg, some giant footprints, gold coins, giant keys, multicolored beans and even some cow poo. Well we investigated the playground and decided that footprints must have been left by a monster, the coins and keys (obviously for a car) must have been left by the children parents, the poo from a cow, the egg from a hen and the beans we did not know who left them but we felt that they would grow into some lovely flowers.

Deconstructed role play area

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:13pm

We have a new role play area. It may look like a space full of old cardboard boxes but we have created a space that is full of things that can be anything. It is like that old saying about children getting expensive toys for Christmas and then playing with the box! There is good reason for that. A toy is a toy, but a box has a million possibilities (at least)!

The children have made the boxes into a bus lining up all the boxes and siting in them. They stopped at each others houses to pick up children and drop them off.  They have also made the space into a hair salon and barbershop using plastic forks from the classroom as comes and scissors.  Drawing from the children’s own experiences we can not weight to see what they come up with next.

Dandelions

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 4:12pm

Well the weather has been lovely and to help develop our ‘Understanding the World’ we went out on the allotment to see what we could find. We loved rolling down the hill, climbing on the rocks and picking wild flowers. We loved the dandelions especially seeing the difference from the yellow flowers to the seeds. We really loved blowing the seeds.
