Reading and building sentences

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 3:57pm

We have recently been working on reading and building sentences with pictures and high frequency words.

We read the sentence on the board and found the words/pictures in the tray…

…then we put them in the right order…

…next we brought the sentence over to check…

…and finally we checked our skills against the success criteria!

We did some good looking, good pointing, saying what you see and going back to check. Great job!

All about the number 4

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 3:56pm

This week we have been learning all about the number 4. We have been counting out 4 objects, having a go at drawing the number 4, looking for the number 4 in the classroom and making number 4 biscuits with 4 smarties on! We really enjoyed making the biscuits and the best part was eating them!

Describing foods

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 3:56pm

This week, we tasted different foods to help us think of words to use in our descriptive writing. Some foods were sour, some were salty, some were bitter and some were sweet. The Marmite smelt very strong so we only tasted a little bit of it. Our favourite foods were sugar and lime – delicious!

Journey Home from Grandpa’s

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 3:55pm

This week we have launched our new story ‘The Journey Home from Grandpa’s’. The children are really enjoying the rhythm in the story and talking about the different vehicles and colours. Have a look at the link below and have a go at singing the story with your child at home.

What did you do during the holidays?

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 3:55pm

This week we got to play a game where you had to say what you did during the holidays using the past simple. We played four-in-a-row. Well done to all our players!

Baa Baa Black Sheep have you any wool?

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 3:54pm

In our Literacy sessions we have been singing lots of different Nursery Rhymes. Today we have been singing ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ and thinking about the order of the Rhyme and what happens next. We used masks and picture cues in the outdoor area to help us to sing the rhyme and answer questions about what happened next.

At Nursery we have been having lots of fun outside mark making with the chunky chalks. We are getting better at talking about the marks that we have made and thinking about how we can make our marks better.

We love to read!

Date: 14th Mar 2018 @ 3:53pm

At Nursery we love to read. This week we have started going to the library. It is very exciting and we have to tiptoe through school to get there! When we are in the library we make sure we use our quiet voices. Shhh!!  We can choose from lots of different books to read in the library and make sure we put them back carefully. We are learning how to handle the books carefully, hold it the correct way up and turn the pages. We are beginning to look at the pictures to help us to tell the story.

Welcome
