Telling the time

Date: 17th May 2021 @ 11:01pm

Last week we have been learning how to tell the time to o'clock and half past times. We used our own analogue clocks to tell the time and then we read times and drawed the minute and hour hands correctly on a blank clock.

We discussed how telling the time was an important skill that will help us all the time. We also looked at lots of different images of clocks so we had an understanding that clocks can look very different.

Why not try this game and continue to do some learning at home... Click on the top sections where it says analogue to analogue and o'clock/half past times.

Measuring Sunflowers

Date: 17th May 2021 @ 10:54pm

Our CC topic this half term is called 'How does the garden grow?' We have learnt lots of facts and vocabulary linked to plants, flowers and trees. We started the half term by planting some sunflower seeds and over the last few weeks we have been looking after out plants and measured how tall the plant is growing. We used our maths skills to measure our sunflowers using a ruler and record how tall they have grown. Next week we are hoping to take them home and continue to look after them until they have grown into beautiful sunflowers.

How to access Padlet week beg 4th January

Date: 6th Jan 2021 @ 3:46pm

Hi Everyone!

Sorry about the confusion with the padlet link today. It was a little bit annoying and frustrating. So this week when you use the link posted in the discussion thread for padlet on school spider you must add the addtional details that are explained on the video.

Please see the video below where I am explaining how to do this. The details will also be posted on school spider each day.

Hope this helps!

Any questions please email us on y1homelearning@ravensbury.manchester.sch.uk

Year 1 Remote Learning 06/01/21

Date: 5th Jan 2021 @ 4:05pm

Happy New Year!!!!

We hope you have had an amazing Christmas. Unfortunately we will be working from home this half term due to the National Lockdown which came into place Monday evening. We do not want you to worry as we are here with you. However we would like you to continue with your learning at home using Padlet and school spider.

You must log onto school spider each morning and do the register. We will then post the padlet link for that day where you will find all the day's learning. Make sure you go to the column for that day. So today go to the column labelled Wednesday and scroll down to see your activities for the day. At the top of the column you will find some messages from the staff in Year 1.

Each day we would like you to ask us questions or tell us about your learning using the discussion thread for that day. Parents if you have any questions or can't find any logging in details for any of the online resources that we use please email us on the year group email or alternatively when you receive a call from Miss Kevill please let her know as well.

y1homelearning@ravensbury.manchester.sch.uk

It is important that you log onto school spider each morning and do the register and complete the activities on Padlet. Miss Kevill will be ringing each day to any parents of children who have not been accessing the remote learning and have not been completing the daily register.

Thank you for your support and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask through email, school spider or when you receive a call.

Stay Safe!!!

Our Learning so far...

Date: 27th Sep 2020 @ 3:13pm

What a wonderful start to our learning in 1AI!!!

Children have amazed me with their commitment and ability to work in our new 'normal' in Year 1. This week we have continued to read and use our focus text called 'My Mum is a Supermum.' We have used this to write labels to describe the mum in the story, another superhero and ended the week by drawing and labelling a picture of our own Mum or Nana.  Why not listen to the story using the link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awUsYB5qR5g

In maths we have started to think about adding two numbers within 10 using the counting on method on a number line and combining two groups of objects. We have also started to practise our number skills in our daily Fluent in 5 sessions. We end each session with a BIngo game where we practise writing our numbers and counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

In our Connected Curriculum or what we call 'CC' we have started to think about what is incredible about our bodies and what we already know. It was amazing to listen to all the facts that children already knew about the body. We talked about the differences and similarities between us all in 1AI and talked about what we were good at.

In PE we started the 'Daily Mile' using our track outside and indoor PE consisted of Just Dance and a fitness version of the game Bingo! In Outdoor PE we have started to practise lots of multiskills using different games and equipment.

Phew!!! It has been a busy few weeks!!! Keep checking our blog for more learning updates from 1AI.

Friday 25th September Behaviour Star!!!

Date: 25th Sep 2020 @ 11:58am

It's the end of the week again and in 1AI we have another Behaviour Star!!

This week the award has been given to Tomasz. Well Done for following our class and school rules and being such a great example to other children in the class and around school.
