26th June #30DaysWild - Challenge 26
Date: 26th Jun 2020 @ 6:59am
Hello Ravensbury wildlife lovers,
The end of another week and it’s going to be a little cooler today. It was so hot yesterday again! I think the ducks will be happy with the rain later.
Today’s challenge is to use your ears as the sun sets tonight. Listen for the wildlife concert that is played in your back garden every evening. You could record it and email the concert to me.
Have a wonderful, sunny and safe Thursday.

Well done to Aden, Ganesa, Jediah and Victoria for completing yesterday's flag challenge! The answer was: the flag of Nigeria. The capital city is Abuja. The official language of Nigeria, is English, but this isn't used very often anymore. Instead, they speak Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Fulfulde, Ibibio, Kanuri, and Tiv.
My Dad chose today's flag for you all, here it is:

Hello everybody,
It’s Thursday already! It was so hot yesterday and it looks like it’s going to be another scorcher today so make sure you wear a hat and put your sun cream on when you’re out in the wild today.
Today’s challenge is to make an accessory out of flowers. I used to love to make daisy chains when I was a little girl. Can you make something to add to your outfit or to give to someone you love?
Have a wonderful, sunny and safe Thursday.

Welcome to another wild Wednesday challenge.
Today’s challenge is to use nature to create a piece of art. Please only use leaves and twigs and flowers that have naturally fallen to the floor. If it has fallen onto the floor it’s nature’s gift to you. You could press leaves or a flower in a book or create a picture.
Have a wonderful, sunny and safe Wednesday.

Thank you so much to this amazing young learner who drew a picture of her favourite bird. It’s beautifully drawn and shows you how high the bald eagle nests. Can anyone tell me facts about bald eagles?

Well done to Aden, Alissia, Ganesa, Jediah, Maddison and Sam who all completed yesterday's flag challenge! Yesterday's flag, was the flag of Japan. Japan's capital city is Tokyo, and the main language of Japan is Japanese. However, as Maddison pointed out, Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji are also used. She also told me they rely on 3 alphabets, which is a new fact for me! Ganesa also taught me a new fact - that the flag embodies the country's sobriquet (meaning 'a nickname'): "Land of the Rising Sun". Thank you Maddison and Ganesa!
What country is this flag for? What is its capital city? What language(s) do they speak?

Hello Wildlife Wardens of Ravensbury!
We’ve reached the end of another week getting out in the wild. We have such a lot of beauty in our world. Remember that when you see something in the wild.
Today’s challenge is to draw a wildflower. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law have lived in lots of amazing places around the world. Some of the photos at the bottom are from places as far away as Saudi Arabia and some are from my local woods. Can you find a wildflower and draw it?

I saw a comment on the padlet page yesterday, that asked if it was raining for us as well. I can say that it was pouring down where I live (Miss Brookes) all yesterday and last night. There was also thunder and lightning, which I found quite cosy, but it frightened my dog who needed a lot of cuddles!
Well done Ganesa for working out the riddle:
How can a leopard change its spots? It just needs to move from 'one spot to another.'
Here is today's riddle:
What begins with an E but only has one letter?

Happy Tuesday Ravensbury!
I hope you are well and you managed to get out yesterday before the thunderstorms. It’s a bit cooler today but hopefully we’ll have some sunshine later.
You can see my butterfly buffet challenge at the bottom. The butterflies didn’t come but there were a couple of visitors and this morning half of the peach I put out had gone! I wonder who enjoyed it. What do you think?
Today your challenge is to go outside, find some wildlife and then google facts about them. What’s the most interesting fact you can find? Write down your answers and send a photo or send a short video in telling us what you’ve discovered about our wild friends outside.

What is always in front of you, but can't be seen?

Today we are going to help our fluttery friends by giving them a treat. See what visits your garden when you put out a sugary buffet for the wildlife. I'm hoping I get some butterflies.
