Year 6DL: Blog items

Goodbye (for now!)

Date: 20th Mar 2020 @ 3:49pm

Dear Year 6,

I know that this has been a weird couple of weeks and firstly I want to thank you for how fantastic and mature you have been despite our changes in routine!

The next few weeks are going to be strange, and at the moment I’m not sure when we will be back in school to talk about it all again. However, I want you to continue to work hard and try not to worry. We’ve sent you home with lots of things to help keep you busy!

Even though school might be closed for a while, don’t worry, your learning can continue! (I know you were all panicking about that). As a Year 6 team we have put together packs for you to use throughout your time off. The aim of this is to keep your skills up ready for when you come back to school. Try to do a little every day, it will help! There are also some mindfulness activities and some PE exercises you might like to do for a break.

Remember to check our class blog every day.   I will post some ideas for activities you can have a go at, and any videos I make or find to help you with your learning at home.

Please stay in touch! Email/tweet me in any work or fun activities you get up to (I will even accept Fortnite dances as ‘fun activities’ although after my attempts today I’m not sure they count – I’ll keep practising). You know I love seeing what you have been up to at home so I am super excited for the coming weeks! I will be checking TT Rockstars too so watch out for those battle invitations!

Finally from me, remember that you are all wonderful; it has been a joy having you in my class this year and I have absolutely loved teaching and getting to know each and every one of you. I am optimistic that we will be back together in school again this year and I am looking forward to seeing you all again already!

Have a lovely break, stay safe and look after yourselves (keep washing those hands!)
Miss Kenwell

Electricity!

Date: 27th Feb 2020 @ 4:08pm

We have been investigating electricity today.
First we had to see what we could remember about how to build a simple circuit.

Then we decided to investigate how we could change the brightness of the bulb - we had to think about what might affect our circuit and how we could keep everything a fair test.

Have a look and see how we did!

If you'd like to investigate circuits more at home, have a look at these websites:
