Letter for Mrs Hughes 22nd June 2020

22nd June 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to give you a brief update on the current situation on the wider opening of school.  The school continues to follow guidance issued by the Department for Education on the opening of schools to pupils in year 6, year 1, Reception and Nursery, as well as continuing to provide support for our priority children.

Since the 8th June we have welcomed back our year 6, year 1 pupils and Reception pupils and next week we will welcome back our Nursery pupils. It has been wonderful to welcome back some of our children and we want nothing more than to have all of them back in school but only when it is safe to do so. Take-up for these yeargroups has understandably been lower than expected. We know that many of you have found the decision whether to send you child back to school a difficult one but I would like to try and reassure you that we are doing everything we possibly can to make school a safe place.

Last week the Government clarified its position regarding the full opening of primary schools before the end of term. They recognised that most schools do not have the capacity, in terms of both physical space and number of teachers to do this.

What does this mean for the families of Ravensbury?
Unfortunately, this means that whilst current guidance remains in place, those pupils in years 2, 3, 4 and 5 will not be returning to school before the end of term in July. So for the remainder of the term, we will continue to provide home learning on the class blog pages. Keep checking the website for further updates.

Working parents
We appreciate that child care may be an issue for parents who are being asked to return to work. We are reaching the point where we will not be able to offer any more places in school so if you are being asked to return to work and there is no one in the household to look your child, please contact us on 0161 223 0370.

FSM
The Government have also made the decision that those pupils who are entitled to FSM will continue to receive them over the summer holidays. Further details about this will follow.

We are waiting for guidance from the Government and Local Authority about what will happen in regards to September. We will keep you informed.

Take care and stay safe
