Free crafts and activities for families

Manchester Libraries are putting on some great FREE activities for the February Half Term for children and families.

First up -  free Half Term Craft Bags to give away at the following North Manchester Libraries:

Avenue Library in Blackley

Abraham Moss Library in Crumpsall

Beswick Library

Newton Heath Library

North City Library in Harpurhey

The bags are filled with craft activities, colouring sheets, puzzles and word searches to keep children entertained over the holiday. They can also choose a free gifting book from their library. Supplies are limited so it's first come, first served for parents to collect at their local libraries.

Secondly we are celebrating International Mother Language Day next week. Manchester is a richly diverse city with around 200 languages spoken here. Whatever language you and your family speak at home, we want to share and  learn about each other's wonderful traditions and cultures and so we have a great free programme of multilingual things to do on the Manchester Libraries Facebook page:

From Monday 15 Feb til Friday 19 Feb at 11am there are lovely Story Times in Portuguese, French, Yoruba, Lithuanian with English. Then Saturday 20th February we have a full day of online activities from 10.30am til 4pm  with Indian Kathak dance and drumming workshop, West Indian Folk and Reggae, Sufi Singing and music plus Kites and Hands of Friendship crafts in Urdu and English, The Hungry Caterpillar in Spanish, poetry, songs and much more. We've attached a taste of our crafts with our Hands of Friendship instruction sheet here

but there are instructional craft videos to follow on the day in dual languages. We'd love children and families to join in at home. All information can be found on the attached leaflets
