Hunting for angles

In class, we have been learning about different types of angles. Today we went on a hunt around the classroom and playground to see how many right angles we could find. We used out angle eaters to check if the angles we found were right angles.

What was it like in the Stone Age?

We took on the roles of archaeologists and reporters to find out more and share our expert knowledge of what it was like in the Stone Age.

In Science, we used magnifying glasses to look at what soil is made from. We looked at peat, sandy, chalk, clay, calcareous soil.

Visiting a Hindu Temple

This week we went to visit a Hindu temple. We learnt more about Hindu gods and goddesses, Diwali and Hinduism.  

Magical Magnets

In Science, we are studying forces. In class, we used magnets to investigate what materials are magnetic and what materials are non-magnetic.

 

We created our own Indian patterns

In Art, we have been drawing our own Indian patterns. This week we began sewing them onto felt. Here are the final pieces of art. 

 

Indian Patterns

In Art, we have been designing our own Indian patterns. We sketched different patterns and then picked our favourites. Then we used ink to create a background for our patterns. Next we transferred our designs onto plastic.

3 Part Sentences

In English, we have been reading the story of Rama and Sita. Today we practised writing 3 part sentences to show what actions Ravana does in the text.

Times Tables

This year at Ravensbury we are thinking about developing our times tables. We will be practicing our tables in a variety of different ways. One of the ways we can practice is by using a range of online games and activities.

In Year 3, we focus on the 3,4 and 8 times tables along with revisiting the 1,2,5,and 10 times tables.
