Welcome back to all our Ravensbury children and their families ! It has been so nice to see everyone's smiling faces and catch up on lockdown news.
Things are a little bit different here as we are making sure we all stay as safe as possible by washing and sanitising our hands regularly and keeping our distance from other people.

Good morning on our final day of term!
Our winners from yesterday's quiz are: Faith, Naomi, Maddison , Ganesa and Heer who all found out that the flower is that of the Dominican Republic. Naomi and Maddison did some extra research and found out that is a very rare cactus and can only be found in certain parts of the island .
Well done to all of our winners over the last few months - it has been great to hear from you , and anyone who has been getting involved with the fun at home. We'll have a little break from the quiz over the summer holidays ready for fresh learning in September.

Hello everyone. I can't believe we have only got one more quiz question before the summer holidays start !
Our winners from yesterday are: Faith, Naomi and Maddison who all knew the country was Australia. Maddison and Naomi found out that the animals are an emu and a kangaroo and they feature on the coat of arms of Australia along with a golden wattle flower.
So, for our last quiz question of the school year , can you tell me which country has this flower , the Bayahibe rose, as it's national flower ?

Good morning!
A big well done to Heer, Ganesa, Faith and Maddison who all found out that the country was Canada and the leaf was a maple from the maple tree. Maddison let me know that Canada at one time, used the Union Jack for its flag before it changed to the familiar maple leaf design.

Good morning!
Congratulations to Faith, Naomi, Maddison, Heer, Ganesa and Zarak who all knew that the daffodil is the national flower of Wales. Maddison found out that many people in Wales wear a daffodil on St. David's day. Maddison also found out that sometimes a leek is used as a Welsh emblem too. Here is today's national emblem. Can you find out what it is and which country has it as its emblem?
(Clues: It is also used on the flag of this country and it is the leaf of a tree which produces syrup which we can use to put on pancakes.)

Good morning on this, our last Monday of term! I hope you had a good weekend.

Congratulations to Zarak, Heer, Ganesa, Faith and Naomi who all found out that Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal.
Maddison told me that Kathmandu has many beautiful monasteries and temples including the highly decorated Pashupatinath Temple.

Good morning !
Well done to Faith, Zarak, Ganesa, Heer, Naomi and Maddison who all let me know that Nairobi is the capital of Kenya. Faith told me that she plans to visit Kenya in the future to go on a safari and Maddison found out that Nairobi is the second largest city in the African Great Lakes region. Heer and Ganesa also did some research and found out that Nairobi is located just south of the centre of the country. Fantastic research skills !

Good morning!
Well done to Faith, Zarak, Naomi, Maddison, Ganesa and Heer who all found out that Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia. Faith told me that Malaysia is in South East Asia and Maddison let me know that the two iconic towers you can see in the photo are called the Petronas Towers. Great work !

Good morning ! Hope you have enjoyed your weekend ?
Well done to Faith, Zarak, Maddison, Naomi, Heer and Ganesa who all found out that the airport is in Morocco in Northern Africa where Arabic, Tamazight ( the main Berber or Amazigh language ) and French are all spoken .
Faith found out that Salam is hello in the Moroccan dialect of Arabic and Maddison told me that there were over 32 million people living in Morocco in 2013. ( This has increased to over 36 million today).

Good morning !
Congratulations to Zarak, Faith and Maddison who all got yesterday's answer right : If you flew into Athens airport, you would be in Greece where the main language is Greek. Faith found out that some of the other languages spoken in Greece are Albanian, Macedonian and Turkish. Maddison told me that the city of Athens has many Ancient Greek buildings which we can still visit today ( after lockdown of course ).

Good morning on the first day of July!
Well done to Faith, Maddison and Zarak who found out that Toronto airport is in Canada and they would need Canadian dollars to spend if they went there on holiday. Maddison found out that Toronto has 8100 restaurants and bars!

Congratulations to Maddison, Faith , Heer and Ganesa who correctly identified that Tokyo airport is in Japan and that the main language spoken there is Japanese. Maddison also found out the names of some other languages which are spoken in Japan: Ryukyuan languages are spoken in Okinawa and parts of Kagoshima in the Ryukyu Islands.

Good morning!
Well done to Faith , Naomi and Maddison who knew it was a bear . Faith also narrowed it down to a brown bear which lives in North America . The bear in the photo was a grizzly bear which is a species of brown bear. Maddison found out that bears can live for up to 25 years. Have a look at one of our winners seeing a brown bear at the zoo:

Happy Friday !
Well done to Maddison, Heer, Ganesa and Faith who got yesterday's answer right . It was of course, a penguin . All of our winners told me that penguins live in the southern hemisphere and not just in Antarctica . Maddison also let me know that the reason they can't fly is because they did not have any predators in the past.

Hello on this very hot Thursday morning !

Happy Wednesday ! Hope you've got your sun hat today - it's going to be hot !
Well done to Faith, Maddison and Naomi who all knew that polar bears live within the Artic circle in countries such as Canada, Alaska, Svalbard and Russia. Maddison knows that they do not live in Antarctica ( that's where penguins live). Faith found out that their fur traps air which them keeps them warm in the cold climate.
