Bright sparks!

Date: 13th Feb 2020 @ 6:04pm

In Science, we have been investigating how to make complete ciruits and how we can change the brightness of a bulb. We will be using what we have found out to make a working alarm in the coming weeks so keep a look out for what we get up to next...

Semi-colons!

Date: 13th Feb 2020 @ 6:01pm

Mrs Ranyard's English group worked in teams to match MAIN CLAUSES to make a semi- colon jigsaw. Then, we created some of our own.

We worked really hard;we are great at semi-colon sentences!

Check out some from our auto-biographies:

Reluctantly, I trudged towards the dreaded zipwire; I gulped in fear at the sight of it.

My brother arrived with rosy-red cheeks and thick, curly hair; he looked adorable.

The ornate Easter egg, which was wrapped in golden foil, glistened like diamonds; I gasped in delight.

Although I was born in Libya, I live in Manchester; it is the best city in the world.

News reporters!

Date: 15th Jan 2020 @ 11:10am

We have been working hard all week as journalists writing our first drafts of a news report about the declaration of war by Neville Chamberlain in 1939. Proof reading our own writing is a very difficult skill but we have worked in pairs to support each other in the process and we found it very useful. Mrs Ranyard was really impressed with how we supported each other- Great teamwork!

"I found it much easier to read my work to Jonathan and to spot mistakes." Ahmad

"I was able to make sure my work was clearer to read." Stevie and Morgan

Up periscope!

Date: 13th Jan 2020 @ 10:05pm

We have been studying how light travels in our science topic and we have created some cool periscopes to demonstrate how light can change direction using mirrors. We had a lot of fun making them and camouflaging them so we could use them to look out of our "Anderson shelters" as part of our WWII topic! Check out our brilliant periscopes in action! Is it safe to come out yet?

WWII EVACUEES- Mantle of the Expert

Date: 15th Mar 2018 @ 11:16am

On Thursday, we welcomed a special visitor, Tim Taylor, to school who helped us with our “Mantle of the Expert” exploring through our Connected Curriculum how evacuees would have felt being sent away during the Second World War. Our ideas inspired some descriptive writing as journalists reporting the chaotic scenes from the train stations as children were evacuated. We also acted as a billeting officers  to persuade host families to take in evacuees. What a great afternoon in role!

Stockport Air Raid Shelter
