Today’s challenge is to draw a wildflower. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law have lived in lots of amazing places around the world. Some of the photos at the bottom are from places as far away as Saudi Arabia and some are from my local woods. Can you find a wildflower and draw it?

Have a fun filled day

Good Morning Nursery!

To complete ‘Toby the terrific train’ we are going to create our final carriage for our last passenger. When you have made your train, send in a video or photos of you using alliteration and positional words to describe your passengers and where they are sat. I will then be able to look at your amazing work!

Are you ready? “All aboard, lets’ go! Toot, toot!”

Watch the video of me showing you our final passenger. Can you describe where he is sat?

Phonics: Which words did I use to describe today’s passenger? Can you think of more alliteration to talk about duck?

Maths: Where is today’s passenger sitting? Can you use positional words to describe where he is sat? Where is your duck going to sit on your train?

Challenge: Draw the final carriage of your train. Can you use alliteration to describe a duck and use positional words to describe where he is sat?

Let’s take a look at ‘Toby the terrific train.’ Can you talk about your train with your grown up, by using alliteration to describe the passengers and positional words to describe where they are sat?

I have attached all of the videos I made when I created my train so you can see all of them in one place. If you haven’t made your train yet then follow the step by step videos and you can create one today. Then send photos of your train to me and I will put them on our celebration blog later today!

Happy Tuesday Ravensbury!

I hope you are well and you managed to get out yesterday before the thunderstorms. It’s a bit cooler today but hopefully we’ll have some sunshine later.

You can see my butterfly buffet challenge at the bottom. The butterflies didn’t come but there were a couple of visitors and this morning half of the peach I put out had gone! I wonder who enjoyed it. What do you think?

Today your challenge is to go outside, find some wildlife and then google facts about them. What’s the most interesting fact you can find? Write down your answers and send a photo or send a short video in telling us what you’ve discovered about our wild friends outside.

Have a  terrific Tuesday

Weekly Reading Challenge

Date: 16th Jun 2020 @ 5:38am

This week Peppa Pig is going to tell us about her Daddy and share with us some of the things that make him special. Watch the video of me reading the story then create a ‘Father’s Day’ card. My card is at the bottom.

  1. Think of the things that make your Daddy Special. What does your Daddy like? What special things do you enjoy doing with your Daddy? Draw, paint or create a special picture for your Daddy.
  2. Copy the words from my card, ‘Happy Father’s Day’
  3. Write a special message to your Daddy inside your card. Copy my words or ask a grown up to write the words for you, then have a go at writing your name.

If you would like to make a special card for another member of your family, that is fine too!

Keep your Father’s Day card in a safe, ready for a surprise on Sunday!

Good morning Ravensbury!

I went to our local woods with my family and I hugged a tree. It made me smile, as you can see in the photo at the bottom. Send in your photos if anything you got up to over the weekend.

Today we are going to help our fluttery friends by giving them a treat. See what visits your garden when you put out a sugary buffet for the wildlife. I'm hoping I get some butterflies.

Phonics and Maths Daily Challenge - Monday 15th June

Date: 15th Jun 2020 @ 6:21am

Hi Nursery!

Over the next few days we are going to create a train by using alliteration and positional words.

You can send in your photos of one part or the whole train if you complete every activity.

We are going to start today, by looking at the book ‘Hippo has a hat’ by Julia Donaldson. We are going to listen out for alliteration in the story and look at where objects are by using positional words.

Watch the video of me reading ‘Hippo Has a Hat.’

Phonics: Listen out for words starting with the same initial sound e.g. Hippo has a hat. Can you make up alliteration for other animals in the story? (e.g. camel’s colourful coat)

Maths: Listen out for Miss Heritage describing the position of objects. Can you create actions for: on top, under, behind, next to, inside, in front.

Fantastic!

Now this week we are going to create a train.

Challenge: Make the engine of your train by watching the second video ‘Toby train.’

Now you can pretend to be a minibeast! How does your minibeast move? What actions can you make in order to move like your bug? Does your bug fly, crawl or even jump? Don’t forget to take a photo of you dressed up as a minibeast and send it to us!

3) Song time:

Join in with singing a song about 5 Little Ladybugs. How many ladybirds can you count?

Phonics and Maths Daily Challenge  - Friday

For our last page of ‘One Mole Digging a Hole’ we are going to look at page 4. When you have made your book send in a video of you reading it or some photos so I can see your awesome work.

Watch the video of me reading page 4. There’s a problem today!

Phonics: What two words rhyme on this page? Can you think of any more words that rhyme with them? This rhyming string is too tricky to draw pictures for because the words are not real words. For this page choose any animal and rhyming word like cat, hat or dog, log or rat, mat.

Maths: Remember to draw 4 of your animal and 4 objects.

Challenge: Draw page 4 for your book and send your photos in to nurseryhomelearning@ravensbury.manchester.sch.uk

I’ve attached all of the videos I made when I created my book so you can see all of them in one place. If you haven’t made your book yet then follow the step by step videos and you can create one today. Then send a video or photos and I’ll put them on our celebration blog!

I can’t wait to read your books!

I’m going to look for a really old tree. Make up your own challenges over the weekend and discover what is outside your door then send the photos in to me.

Good morning Nursery,

What’s the next page we are going to look at? Yes, it’s page 3 because number 3 comes after number 2. We are very close to the end of the week so remember to send in your photos so I can make a video of your fabulous learning.

Watch the video of me reading page 3 and talking about how I made my page 3.

Phonics: What two words rhyme? Create a rhyming string and draw pictures for your page.

Maths: Use your counting skills to check how many you need to draw and then practice writing the number 3.

Challenge: Draw page 3 for your book. Will it be completely different like mine - Three bees sipping cups of tea? Or will the 3 Bears sit on 3 chairs or go to 3 funfairs? You choose because it's your book.
