We are really settling in to the Autumn term and what a busy couple of weeks we have had! We have been learning about all the different things we can make and do in the different areas in the classroom such as the reading, writing, small world, construction, computer, sand, water, maths, roleplay and home corner.
We have also been learning how to plan where we would like to play and how to talk about what we have enjoyed doing. So please ask us when we get home.
We have also been learning about how to look after our classroom so that it is safe and ready for us to play in everyday. Look at what a great job we are doing.
We have also been exploring the school grounds and finding lots of lovely autumnal leaves and things to bring inside for our investigation area. Lots of children thought that the conker was a dragon egg!

On Friday we had a very special visit form the hen that laid the golden egg. She was very friendly but has not been named yet which seemed like a perfect opportunity for a name competition. Can you think of a name that might suet her?
Look at some of the pictures we have drawn of her.
Can you guess what new story we are reading?

When we arrived at school this week we found someone had left lots of strange things in the playground including a golden egg, some giant footprints, gold coins, giant keys, multicolored beans and even some cow poo. Well we investigated the playground and decided that footprints must have been left by a monster, the coins and keys (obviously for a car) must have been left by the children parents, the poo from a cow, the egg from a hen and the beans we did not know who left them but we felt that they would grow into some lovely flowers.

We have a new role play area. It may look like a space full of old cardboard boxes but we have created a space that is full of things that can be anything. It is like that old saying about children getting expensive toys for Christmas and then playing with the box! There is good reason for that. A toy is a toy, but a box has a million possibilities (at least)!
The children have made the boxes into a bus lining up all the boxes and siting in them. They stopped at each others houses to pick up children and drop them off. They have also made the space into a hair salon and barbershop using plastic forks from the classroom as comes and scissors. Drawing from the children’s own experiences we can not weight to see what they come up with next.

Well the weather has been lovely and to help develop our ‘Understanding the World’ we went out on the allotment to see what we could find. We loved rolling down the hill, climbing on the rocks and picking wild flowers. We loved the dandelions especially seeing the difference from the yellow flowers to the seeds. We really loved blowing the seeds.
