Weekly Vocabulary Challenge

Date: 24th Jun 2020 @ 6:36am

Hi Nursery!

I would like you to think carefully about the books we have looked at this week.

Have you noticed the changes that happen to a caterpillar?

Talk to your grown up about what happens and the changes that take place.

Fantastic!

Today we are going to look at pictures of a caterpillar egg, a caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly and then create a Butterfly Spin Wheel. You can use this to talk about and describe what you can see, how it looks, feels and moves.

Watch today’s show me clip and talk about the pictures you see.

Use the photos below or create your own butterfly spin wheel to talk about and describe the pictures of a caterpillar egg, a caterpillar, a chrysalis and a butterfly.

When you are playing with your spinning wheel or looking at the pictures, talk about and discuss some of the following questions with your grown up:

What does it look like? Can you describe how it looks?

Does it move? How does it move?

Where do you think it is? What do you think is happening? What is inside?

Can you talk about and name the different body parts?

Fantastic!

To finish your activity today, you might like to explore moving as different stages of the cycle: e.g. Curl up small like an egg, wiggle like a caterpillar, twist and spin like a chrysalis and flap your arms like a butterfly!

Amazing!
