Wednesday 22nd April Phonics

Date: 22nd Apr 2020 @ 7:57am

Good Morning Reception!!

Start by looking at the Phase 2/3 tricky words. Can you read them as fast/slow/in a witchy voice/in a monster voice or a deep voice? May be a grown up can time how long it took you to read the words.

Play splat the tricky word. Pick 6 tricky words and write them on pieces of paper. Spread the words out in your room or do it outside, then choose a soft cuddly toy. Your grown will say a tricky word and see if you can splat it with your soft cuddly toy.

Get active by doing the actions to this new alphabet song:

Today I want you to continue looking at the Phase 3 sounds from yesterday and use the Phase 2 sounds confidently in your reading.

You are going to play a game called ‘Musical Read.’ Remember we have done this in class. Look at the sentences below and write them out on scraps of paper. Put the sentences in the middle of the room or outside in your garden. Play your favourite song and have a dance. When the music stops choose a sentence to read to your grown up. Continue playing until you have read all the sentences. How many will you be able to read…?

Jack went up the hill to get some water.

Jill fell down the hill and hurt her hand.

The dog can wag his tail fast.

She will do her zip on her coat.

I saw a spider on a cobweb.

We will visit the shop and get some sweets.

The bee can buzz a lot.

I have six shells in my hand.

Extra challenge – Can you read the sentences about the minibeasts and match them to the correct picture? You will find the sentences and pictures attached to this blog.
