Hello Year 5!

It's another beautifully sunny day (I am SO thankful for this lovely weather we're having!), and we're up and ready for our day - Livvi, Asaph and I are going to start off doing PE with Joe Wicks, then I think they've chosen to start their stories today. Asaph's is about a dinosaur and Livvi's is an increasingly complicated story about the great great granddaughter of Howard Carter who discovers his diary, gets sucked into it (taking her back to the Ancient Egyptian era), and has to break the curse of the golden statue of Bastet. Or something like that...to be honest, it got a bit hard to follow as she was thinking of ideas yesterday, so wish me luck for today!! I'm going to set you a little writing activity tomorrow, I can't wait to read your ideas and brilliant word choices, I'm so missing reading your fantastic writing!

But back to today - remember to keep checking in with today's blog post to find the activities that Miss Wendt, Miss Brookes and I put on! Don't forget to email us to show us what you've been up to!

Good morning from Mrs Hodges!

Are you ready for today's Sentence of the Day? Remember it's linked to the YouTube video I posted yesterday of how astronauts exercise on the International Space Station, so check back to Monday's blog post if you haven't watched it yet!

I'd love to see your corrected sentence before I post my purple pen video later this afternoon!

Good afternoon! I hope you're having a lovely day Year 5! How did you get on with today's sentence? Click the link below to see my corrected sentence!

Hi from Miss Wendt!

Hello Year 5! Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine. Like Mrs Hodges said, I too am very thankful for the lovely weather. I've set myself up a little desk in my back garden so I can enjoy the fresh air while I'm working.

Have a look at today's maths. It includes a negative number calculation, a skill we first practiced in September! Who can remember the rules?

I'll update with the answers later!

Hello again!

How did you all get on? Did anyone remember the strategy we use to multiply larger numbers? Here are todays answers, see if you got 5/5!

See you tomorrow with a slightly different challenge!

Good Morning Year 5! Miss Brookes here.

I hope you all had a wonderful Monday, and will have an even better Tuesday. A huge well done to the children that have already begun the reading challenge! I was very impressed when I checked Reading Plus yesterday evening.

There are two lessons from me today, GVP and Science!

Today's GVP is focusing on relative clauses (5CB know how much I love to use them!) I can't wait to read the sentences you come up with to describe Merlin and Disney Land.

And now for science...

I was looking forward to recording the science video yesterday, this is my favourite science unit to teach! Just like our connected curriculum, it is all about Space (how exciting!) I've attached the worksheet I mention, and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Which planet is your favourite?

Can you think of a mnemonic to remember the order of the planets in our Solar System?

Here is one:
