Sentence of The Day

Date: 22nd Apr 2020 @ 11:06am

Today our sentence links to our science topic ‘The Circulatory System’ and is a typical sentence that would be ideal for a heart rate investigation outcome.

The findings from the investigation on heart rate/pulse rate are that the more we exersise, the faster the heart rate; the body increases its beats per minute to deliver the neccessary blood flow to the muscles.

The sentence above has many features which make it clearer to read and understand.

  1. A slash to show the link between heart rate and pulse rate to show they both mean the same thing and give extra detail.
  2. The sentence compares two things, ‘the more we exercise’ with ‘the faster the heart rate’. This shows the relationship between what we have explored and is a common way of writing following a science investigation.
  3. There is a comma to separate the sentences which compare two variables.
  4. I have also used a semi-colon to expand the sentence to give additional information.

Now can you spot the two spelling errors I have made in my sentence and correct them?

Look on the blog to see my ‘Heart Rate Investigation’ and at the end of your own, see if you can write a summarising sentence about your own findings using my sentence to help you.

‘We create, We explore,

We care, We soar’
