A letter to the wonderful 5CB children :)

Date: 20th Mar 2020 @ 11:08am

Hi everyone!

To begin with, I just want to say how sorry I am that I have been unable to be there with you these past couple of days,  unfortunately it was out of my control and I have hated every second of being away from you all.

I know that this is a difficult time, and you must all have a thousand questions – I wish I was there to answer them. However, I am immensely proud of the work you have put in these past few days (even if you are still quite loud!) I’ve received a glowing report from Mrs Turner and Miss Harris, so well done!

The next few weeks are going to be tricky, and I’m not sure when we will be back in school to talk about it all again. However, I want you to continue to work hard and try not to worry. I know a lot of you are worriers – and if this was something, I thought you should worry about, I would tell you (you know I would). So instead of worrying, I want you to distract yourselves.

While I’ve been sat home (very bored! My copy of Harry Potter is still on my desk at school ☹ ) I’ve been preparing all of the tasks in your home learning pack. One of the best ‘stop yourself from worrying’ tool in there, is the mindfulness worksheets.  If you’re feeling stressed or concerned, I want you to complete some of those activities. I would also love for you to draw me some pictures, and keep them somewhere safe until we are back in school.

The next thing I want you to do, is check our class blog every day. I am going to do my best to post a video each day. I will post some lessons on the different worksheets you have – in case you are stuck or can’t remember how to work something out – and I will post some mindfulness and wellbeing tips, to keep you focussed (I’ve even left a video on there for you now).

The last thing I want to say, is thank you. I am hopeful that I will get to teach you again, but on the off chance that doesn’t happen, I want to let you know what a wonderful time I have had this year. You’re the very first class I have been able to teach from September (rather than from in the middle of the year!) and even though we have had our ups, downs, and headaches, I have loved every second of it.

From forcing you to love Harry Potter, and taking our selfie’s when we dress up, to getting frustrated at your tiktok dances (for the last time, I’m not a vsco girl!) I have had a blast. You are a funny bunch, and I can’t wait to hear from you again.

Thank you, and stay strong.

Thinking of you all,

Miss Brookes.
