Thursday 30th April

Date: 30th Apr 2020 @ 8:53am

Good morning everyone!

It's the last day of April - I don't know about you, but it feels like it's been a very long month!

I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that Livvi has finally finished her story (that she started over a week ago!), she's very pleased with it and titled it, "The Curse of Bastet". Asaph did some writing yesterday too - his teacher wanted him to continue the story of "Dinosaurs in my School" and think about two more places in school that the dinosaurs could ruin. He chose the playground and the toilets...and found it ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS that he drew a poo and wee in the toilet that the dinosaurs didn't flush away. He also needs to "have a stretch" after literally every word he writes. That's 6 year olds for you I guess! I'm definitely missing working with you wonderful Year 5 writers!

Anyway, let's move on from that...Miss Wendt, Miss Brookes and I are so enjoying see the learning you're emailing across, keep it up Year 5!

5HW are currently winning with 7 heart photos! 5CB have 6. Which class will win?

Hello from Miss Wendt!

Mrs Hodges, I was laughing so much at Asaph's "Dinosaurs in my School" story!

Sadly I don't have anything featuring dinosaurs, poo and wee - but I do have some maths! Have a look at today's fluent in 5 task.

*hint* remember our learning on square and cube numbers!

I've also included another challenge today, recapping on our fractions work which we completed at the start of the year. Who thinks they can email the correct response?

I will update with the answers later!

For our Spanish learning today, I have chosen a favourite song of 5HW's! The song is called Tengo Hambre which means I'm Hungry!

Have a look at the video below and try to write as many food words as you can. I promise you will be singing the song for days!

Maths Answers!

Did anyone get the answer to the fractions question? The answer is...they were all correct! Whitney was counting in improper fractions, Eva in mixed fractions and Teddy counted using some equivalent fractions.

Good morning everyone! From Miss Brookes

My internet wasn't being cooperative this morning, so it took me a little longer than I would have liked to get this post up. It's working now, and hopefully it will work for the rest of the day.

I think Mrs Hodges will have to bring those two stories to school when we go back - I'm intrigued, especially by Livvi's effort and committment (and of course, Asaph's humour)!

I recorded today's GVP video yesterday evening, and I was all snuggled up with a blanket and a cup of tea - my ideal evening! Thank you to all of the children that have emailed their word mats for yesterdays learning - keep them coming!

Today's focus is all about adverbs of possiblity, and it will continue into Monday's lesson as well.

https://www.showme.com/sh?h=wJOX6Q4

Here's a reminder of the adverbs of possibility we used, to help you with your work:

certainly, definitely, maybe, possibly, surely, clearly, obviously, perhaps, probably, undoubtedly.

How many did you remember in 30 seconds?

Enjoy your Thursday!
