Sentence of The Day

Good morning year 6. I hope you enjoyed writing a DAD (description, action, dialogue) sentence yesterday and you noticed that I had misspelt fierce and apprehensive yesterday. I asked you also to see if you could improve the word 'walked'. You could have used stumbled or trudged. 

Today the sentence I am going to write is an action sentence using an expanded list and powerful vocabulary, making sure I keep the atmosphere needed for a spooky story.

Tom and Ahmet knew it was too late to turn back now!  A dare was a dare! 

Cautiously, Tom lifted the old, tarnished gate latch; the gate swung open, forced by the wind that had whipped up a strange force around them, they both clung on to each other, trembling, as they made their way to the ancient, warped front door and both stopped simultaneously and stared at the strange, yet familiar, symbol right in the center.
