Catch Up Blog!!

Date: 3rd Feb 2022 @ 10:47am

Hi Everyone!

It's been a while since I did a blog so I thought I would catch you up on this term's main events!

Maths -

In maths we have been working hard learning new multiplication and division skills. The children have been learning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s to find a total. They are now spotting patterns and making counting choices during the input. Yesterday one of the children noticed that a picture of cupcakes we were counting were stacked in columns of two, so instead of counting in ones, we all agreed that counting in twos would be much faster! Recently, we have been working on dividing. The children have been sharing and grouping objects and pictures this week and describing the groups and how many is in each one.

English -

We have started reading a new book! Our story is called Lost in the Toy Museum. We have predicted what we think will happen in the story; written sentences about what we would like to see in a toy museum and written some beautiful sentences about the settings in the story. The children's writing is coming on really well - I am so impressed! Many of the children are writing completely independently and challenging themselves to write at length. Keep up the hard work superstars!

CC -

We have looked at the changes in weather and the order of the seasons this term. We have noticed that although the sun has been shining this week it has still been very cold. We also went on a shadow hunt - unfortunately the sunshine was hiding behind the clouds so we didn't get to see many shadows, but we will keep a look out! The children have also been looking at and comparing toys from the past and present. They have had the opportunity to play with differnet toys and evaluate them with their friends.

I am so proud of the children at the moment. There are so many changes in school at the moment but they are taking everything in their stride. Two more weeks until the holidays now, lets keep working hard and celebrate all the wonderful work we have been doing!

Have a lovely weekend!
