John Aston Snr

Yesterday we had some very important visitors in school.

John Aston Snr played for Manchester United from 1946 to 1954, helping Manchester United to win the 1948 FA cup final. He was capped 17 times for England. He then went on to be a youth team coach and the chief scout in the 1960s.

John Aston Snr attended Ravensbury Street School from 1926 to 1935 and to commemorate his life and achievements a plaque has been placed on the side of the building. John Aston Jnr, Brian Kidd, Gordon Taylor O.B.E , Dennis Law and Tommy Heron came to celebrate the unveiling.

It was a lovely event, attended by John Aston Snr’s family and friends and current staff and pupils. Granada reports were also there to film the occasion.
