Teacher: Mrs Iqbal

Welcome to Class 1A! My name is Mrs Iqbal and I am very excited to be teaching you this year. In Year 1 we will embed the skills that have already been taught in Reception and build on some new skills/learning from the Year 1 National Curriculum. The learning will incorporate a mixture of fun and enjoyable activities and experiences through various topics over the year. 

We will focus on reading, writing, maths and phonic skills as well as the other areas of curriculum. We will be answering the following questions over the year linked to our Geography and History topics. 

What can be found in my local area? 

How is the world changing overtime?

Why is the weather so wonderful?

Would you play with toys from the past, or toys from today? 

What is in the United Kingdom? 

How did we learn to fly? 

Our PE Days this term are:

Wednesday and Thursday 

Please make sure children are wearing their PE kit into school on these days. No jewellery including earrings should be worn on PE days. 

Reading books will be changed on Friday. Please make sure your child's book bag is in school everyday and when you share it at home write a comment/sign in the reading record. 

A list of spellings will be given out every Friday for children to practice at home for th following Friday where I spelling test will be given. Please make sure you support your child to practice these at home.
