Year 6 visit to the Imperial War Museum

Date: 14th Nov 2019 @ 11:40pm

We had a brilliant visit to the Imperial War Museum North last week. We found out lots about the Blitz and the effect of war on different people's lives. We especially enjoyed the BIG PICTURE SHOW which was projected on the large walls of the museum and told real people's stories and memories from the Second World War- our new topic this term. It was really special as we commemorated Remembrance Sunday last week when we remember soldiers who have fought in all wars.

World War Two topic launch

Date: 6th Nov 2019 @ 11:02pm

Today was exciting as we went back in time to September 3rd 1939 to the day World War Two began. We all enjoyed being in role and taking part in a school day with our war names and meeting our war teachers... Miss Gilbertson and Miss Wilson. We were just taking part in our school dance when the siren went...then it was straight back to our rooms to gather around the "wireless" and listen to Neville Chamberlain's speech.Over the next few weeks we will be researching how war began and what life was like for people during the Blitz. Click here to find out more and click the picture below to hear Neville Chamberlain's speech.

Lots of fun - well done Year 6!

Prime Number Practise

Date: 15th Mar 2018 @ 9:58am

Following on from today’s lesson, use this game to help you practise recognising prime numbers

Remember to scroll through to find the prime number option.

Plus, bring 3 examples to prove that this trick works. Remember, you can use short division to divide by 12.

The Prime Number Trick

Using prime numbers, you can amaze your friends with a prime prediction…

  • Ask your friends to pick any prime number bigger than 5, but they must not tell you what it is.
  • Square it. (In other words multiply the prime number by itself.)
  • Add 17
  • Divide by 12

Without knowing which prime number your friends picked, you can still tell them: There will be a remainder of 6

Practise your missing angles skills…

Date: 15th Mar 2018 @ 9:32am

Following on from today’s lesson, use the Maths Frame game that was on the board to practise  will more at home.

Remember that you will need to log in with the school username and password and choose ” Angles in a triangle”.
