What a lovely thing it is to share a book with a friend. Let's say the alphabet sounds... But then sometimes, it's great to sit quietly with a book and get lost in another world.

When we have been playing in the classroom over the last few days, our teachers have seen us playing lots of maths games. Can you work out how to play with our maths resources?

How many number blocks does it take to transform it into a rocket?
Date: 26th Mar 2019 @ 10:23pm
When we play in the classroom, sometimes we are set challenges to create our own Maths games. Today the number blocks transformed themselves into a 'number rocket' that zoomed around the classroom after it was built and counted. They also became talking towers. Can you estimate how many number blocks are used? Can you count how many the children used?

We love reading at Ravensbury
To celebrate World Book Day we joined the older children for a special assembly where we walked down the book character catwalk, we shared books and we designed and created our very own, one of a kind, Rainbow Reading Area.
What do you think of it? Would you like to join us to read a book?
A day full of love - February 14th, 2019
Date: 26th Mar 2019 @ 8:52pm
We really felt the love on Valentine's Day by sharing hearts and making gifts for our adults.
We even learned a song to sing at the end of the day to tell our grown-ups we love them.
Crocodile Joe brings along some friends...
Date: 26th Mar 2019 @ 8:38pm
The time Crocodile Joe came to school was such an unforgettable experience. Joe shared his love of animals with us by telling us about his adventures around the world and by introducing us to snakes, lizards and a tarantula called Tilly!
He's inspired us to create an animal world in our classroom as we learn more about eggs.

We were amazed by what we saw in class a couple of days after our trip to the Blue Planet Aquarium. Mrs Hughes brought her husband's scuba gear in for us to look at. On the trip, we saw Luke and Mark inside the tank feeding the fish. It was really exciting and we were very interested in the breathing apparatus. Did you know the octopus is the name of the long hose?
Thank you for lertting us look at your equipment Mr Hughes
An amazing day out to Blue Planet Aquarium

Our very first trip out was a huge success! We were so tired at the end of the day because it had been so busy. Can you imagine seeing sharks and eels and cayman and jellyfish and tarantulas and every type of reptile and sea life you could think of? We really could not believe our eyes

Last half term we learned about the children in the story book, On Sudden Hill. In the book there are three boys that can create anything from virtually nothing! They had so many good ideas that we decided to make our own props box. The Pirates don't look too friendly. Can you guess who the King and Queen are? Oh and be careful passing those Knights, they've already killed our texture dragon...
Can you create props and bring them in to school? To listen to the story click here
Can we stop the snow from feeling so cold?
Date: 26th Mar 2019 @ 7:42pm
We made good use of the cold and the snowy weather in January by carrying out an experiment. We created a snow castle outdoors and then scooped up the snow into the tray. After touching it, we realised we wouldn't be able to play for long unless we found gloves to warm us up. Funnily enough, woollen gloves got wet and our hands felt really cold, but washing up gloves helped keep our fingers warmer and dry.

The first snow fell in January during the morning mat time. We were so excited we just had to go outside, get our coats on and stand in the cold air as the snow fell on our coats and noses and hair...

On Shrove Tuesday we made the batter, asked Miss Conway to cook them so we could play outside in the sunshine and then created our own toppings. Most of us thought they were yummy! We did say MOST of us

We had lots of fun joining in the danceathon and raising money for people who need our help

We're really looking forward to working on our New Year's Resolutions. Pop in to class to see what we are going to be working hard to achieve in 2019
Date: 14th Nov 2018 @ 8:30pm
To mark this important occasion and to understand more about what Remembrance Day is, we have been finding out about the symbol we see all around us, the poppy.
We started our day looking at old photos of soldiers and then used our 100 square to try ti understand how long 100 years is. We are only 4 or 5 years old. Count to 5. That doesnt take very long does it? Try counting to 46 ( our teacher is that old!). That took a lot longer. Imagine how long 100 years is. "WOWWWW", said William, "That's really really long, a long time"
We then created poppies and pictures using our own choice of materials before standing together holding hands to show respect for all soldiers, past and present. It was a calm and thoughtful time for us today.

Following on from learning about lots of different celebrations, today we began to learn about Diwali.
We learned about the story of Rama and Sita and how they fought the 10 headed demon Ravana. As they were a long way from home in the story, Hindu people light diva lamps and put them in their windows to guide them safely home. Here are picture of the indepndent work we did to learn more.
Here is a link to Watch the story of Rama and Sita
Can you guess what we are making to guide Rama and Sita home?
Step 1: Make a pinch pot and add a pattern inside using tools.
(Spoiler Alert: They may be lighting up your windowsill very soon!)

This week we have been creating poems, printing and painting shape pictures and making bonfire crafts for Bonfire Night. Such a busy time learning about celebrations this half term!
On Bonfire Night, at five o'clock I bought rocket and it went whoosh, pop, crackle, bang, sizzle.
BE SAFE AND ENJOY THE CELEBRATIONS
Hubble Bubble Halloween Potions
Date: 14th Nov 2018 @ 8:07pm
The spooky fun continued this week as we created halloween potions and held relay races to explore and compare capacity cauldrons. There were a lot of witches and spiders in the school today!
Date: 14th Nov 2018 @ 8:02pm
To learn about how people celebrate Halloween, we had lots of fun bobbing for apples this afternoon. It's very tricky and we needed to be patient and also very careful. Holding the apple in your teeth at the end was both funny and very rewarding.

After our first sports day was cancelled due to the fabulous Manchester weather, we finally got to show off our physical skills to our parents this morning. We have been practicing with our teachers so we could run the relay, complete the obstacle course, play the parachute game and ride the bike track using imagination and skill and of course doing so safely. Oh and don't foret the amazing fun run our adults joined us for at the end! Afterwards, we invited our grown-ups in to cool down in front of the whiteboard with a mindfulness Go Noodle session.

When we are learning, our teachers think it important that we have choices about how we create representations of objects we are learning about. This week we have we spent time choosing from lots of different craft activities. We could choose to create a leaf owl, a popcorn tree, a harvest hen and a clay hedgehog. Some of us chose to make all of these things! We also decided it would be good for us to display some our our work too, on the seasons board in Miss Wolfenden's classroom.
Date: 14th Nov 2018 @ 7:26pm
On Fridays we are very lucky to have Sean visiting us. He plays games and helps us to use our imaginations to improve our Physical Development skills. The best bit is that even if it's raining, we don't stop our sessions because of our awesome new Physical area. Take a look at some of the games we played today.

To continue our healthy food choices, today we created our own Autumn Salad by tasting and talking about what we had eaten. We were very adventurous, trying new and interesting foods that we don't usually eat at home. This is an important part of our learning - to try new things and have a go.
Date: 14th Nov 2018 @ 7:09pm
Today we created a yummy and healthy favourite - Harvets Soup! Using a variety of seasonal vegetables and some seriously safe knife skills we cut, cooked and then ate our very own creation. You can see how much we loved it. If you want to know how, just pop in to class and ask us
