Eggcellent Eggsperiment!

Date: 15th Oct 2021 @ 11:29am

In science, Year 4 have been learning about teeth.
We have learnt about the different type of teeth, what their functions are and have looked at what teeth are made of.

We carried out an experiment to see the effect that different types of drinks have on our teeth. We couldn't use real teeth so we used egg shells instead as they have a similar reaction.
First, we had to plan out our experiment and make a prediction.  Most of us thought that coke or lucozade would have the worst effect on the egg shells.
Then we carried out our experiement - the children were amazing at measuring out the right amounts of liquid using a measuring jug.
We have been checking on the eggs each day and recording our observations.

Check back in to see which drink ended up changing the egg shells the most and what conclusions we drew from this.

Exploring the Library

Date: 15th Oct 2021 @ 10:44am

Year 4 have had a wonderful time using the library again - the children have really missed it! We spent some time reminding ourselves of how everything is organised and how we can look after the space and the books and then we had some time to relax and unwind with a good book.

Every child has chosen a library book this week and has taken it home with them. These are due back on Wednesday. We hope you enjoy reading them together!

Today we played a game of pairs to try and find number bonds. We could add or subtract numbers but they had to make 100!

Threshold Challenges!

Date: 14th Sep 2021 @ 9:30pm

This week, year 4 took part in a threshold challenge.

After break, children returned to their classroom to find a picture blocking their way, along with some thought-provoking questions. Their challenge was to remember as many things as they could about the picture, while also answering the questions.

The children used the retrieval skills they had practiced all week, as well as plenty of enthusiasm, to discuss what they had discovered.

They showed super learning and team work skills - well done, year 4!
