This half term has been completely jam-packed!

In Maths, the children have been doing lots of work on decimals and measurement, particularly in area and perimeter.

In English, we have been reading The Water Horse, which the children have loved and we have written our own stories around the theme of a mysterious creature! We have also been planning information leaflets on water and its importance!

In CC, we have been looking at the water cycle and how we can save water. We had a visitor from Water Aid come into the school and have decided to have a Bake Sale on the 2nd April at 3.30pm.

Ordsall Hall Trip

Date: 31st Jan 2019 @ 11:47am

On Monday we had a great time at Ordsall Hall. It was great to see all the children participating in the activities and learning so much about the Tudors. It really bought the topic to life. We were able to dress up, make scented bags and experience life as a Tudor servant in the kitchen.

Thank you to our lovely parent helpers who helped made the trip a great success.

Christmas Party

Date: 17th Dec 2018 @ 4:12pm

Today 4ST celebrated Christmas in style at our Christmas class party! We dressed up, played games, ate party food and won some cool prizes. Everyone was well and truly in the Christmas sprit and really enjoyed themselves.

Thank you to all the parents for the generous food donations. It was all yummy!

Poetry Performance

Today in reading the children were asked to perform in groups one of the earthquake poems they have been reading this week. As part of their poetry unit we have learnt about the structure and presentation of poems, the reasons why poetry is written and the different literary devices that poets use. The performances were all excellent, some children were even able to learn their poems off by heart in a very short time.

Christmas Dinner

Date: 12th Dec 2018 @ 4:53pm

Today was our delicious Christmas dinner. The children all enjoyed the tasty food and even those who chose to have a packed lunch still enjoyed their cracker. What a fantastic start to our Christmas celebrations!

Date: 25th Nov 2018 @ 10:22pm

This half term in year 4 we are learning to be computer programmers.  We are using a program called turtle art to explore sequencing a set of instructions.

If you want to practise using this at home you can download here http://www.icompute-uk.com/primary-computing-resources.html

This week we practised dragging programming blocks to draw a variety of shapes.  We then used the repeat button to make the instructions simpler.

We are looking forward to extending our knowledge next week.
