Information regarding Free School Meals

Dear Parent/carer

As the current global pandemic changes pace we are aware that you and your family are self-isolating or the school maybe slowly closing down whilst the country deals with this unfortunate situation.

Your child has been identified as being in receipt of either Free School Meals (FSM) or Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM).

The school has already received this funding to subsidise the meal we provide your child with.

The current cost of a school meal at Ravensbury Community School is £2.25.  This amount covers the cost of food, salaries and the other costs of running a kitchen.

We have calculated that it would be fair to offer you a cash amount of £20.00 per pupil.  This is calculated as £2.00 per day, per child for two weeks from Monday 23rd March until Friday 3rd April to help subsidise the cost of feeding your child at home. This is an interim measure until the Government are able to systems in place.

When you collect your payment you will be asked to sign to say that the cash advance will be used towards providing your child with a suitable, healthy lunchtime meal during these difficult times.

Ideas for healthy lunches can be found at:

https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/recipes/healthier-lunchboxes

You will receive another message shortly informing you when you can collect your money.

Please do not turn up at school without being informed to do so as we do not have the staff to manage this demand.

Regards
