Help with food costs while schools are closed
Replacement Free School Meal Scheme |
25th March 2020
Dear parent/carer
Help with food costs while schools are closed
As outlined in the letter sent on 19th March, school provided parents with an interim cash payment of £20.00 per pupil to all families entitled to FSM to help subsidise the cost of food during the school closure. This payment covered a two week period from Monday 23rd March until Friday 3rd April until the City Council put its own system in place.
Manchester City Council has now put its own arrangements in place to support pupils eligible for FSM during this period until the Government’s national voucher scheme is in place.
To qualify families must:
- Be Manchester residents or supported by the Homelessness Service
- Meet the criteria for free school meals based on household income or due to being an asylum seeker
Parents can make an application for a FSM voucher via the Council’s welfare Provision Scheme using the link below
Ensure that you read the eligibility criteria on the webpage before applying.
The payment will be made by the following methods
- A bank transfer into a nominated bank account
- A secure text message that can be used to access cash from a range of Paypoint outlets in the city
- A voucher that can be printed and can then be exchanged for cash from a range of Paypoint outlets in the city.
Regards,
Mrs Hughes
