Welcome to our class page!
This is where you can find all the information you need to know about being in Year 3. During this year, we will be learning about lots of interesting things like Egypt, The Stone Age and The Romans as part of our Connected Curriculum! You can keep updated on everything we do inside and outside the classroom by looking at our class blog below.
Reading is so beneficial to learning so it is important that you try to read with your child every night. The children have a reading record which needs to be signed as often as possible. You are welcome to make a comment about how your child found the book, any words they struggled with and what page they read to. Your child also has a bookmark which is stamped every time they read. The more stamps they get, the more rewards they win! Reading every night will help your child with different reading strategies and fluency. Children can change their book in the classroom when necessary. Their reading record and reading book can stored in their book bag which needs to be brought to school every day.
Homework is given out on Friday and returned by the following Friday. Homework will include a maths activity based on learning they have done in class as well as a x tables activity. In Year 3, we need to know our 3, 4 and 8 times tables. It will also include their spellings and an opportunity to practice them by putting them into sentences.
Our PE slots are Tuesday and Friday. Your child requires a PE kit to change into – this should include a T-shirt, pair of shorts/jogging bottoms & some pumps/trainers for outdoor games. This can be left in school for the half term and taken home during the holidays.
Children are expected to show respect to each other, to all adults and the school environment. Inside the building and on the playground, we have a clear behaviour system that all the children follow. At Ravensbury, we have 3 School Rules - Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be Respectful - which encourage good behaviour. The rules and behaviour systems are clearly displayed in our classroom and around the school. There are a lot of rewards in place at Ravensbury and in 3RH we have raffle tickets, house points and the prize box.
I am looking forward to our year ahead together and can't wait to make lots of amazing memories!
