Today we had a wonderful science morning with Mrs Ranyard (Y6) who was very impressed with our scientific knowledge and understanding of how plants grow. We spent some time outside observing lots of the different plants, flowers and trees that grow in our playground. We had lots of fun observing and sketching leaves and flowers as well as naming and measuring the plants we found. WE ARE SUPER SCENTISTS!

Nursery challenges happen each week and children have to complete 3 challenges in different areas oer the week. This week children had a painting, writing and ICT challenge. At the end of the week the children with 3 buttons had a fantastic treat after finishing the challenges. They got to play with some superhero figures borrowed from Mrs Iqbal's house and some chose the unicorn and fairy colouring sheets. I wonder what the challenges will be next week...?
Spinderella's and Tiddler's Dinosaur Eggs have hatched!!!
Date: 16th Jun 2019 @ 8:54pm
Last week we discovered some Dinosaur Eggs in our classroom. We put the eggs in water and waited until they hatched. At first there was a small crack but slowly the crack got bigger until we could see the dinosaurs. Tiddler's dinosaur was green and Spinderella's was orange and yellow. From next week each dinosaur will sit with someone at group time for the day and be responsible for it. How exciting!!

On Friday 14th June we joined in with 'Healthy Lifestyles Day' in Nursery. In the morning we had a Nutritionist called Jack who came from Manchester Fayre and talked about healthy foods and the Eatwell Plate. He then asked Mrs Iqbal to help him make some 'Homous.' We tried it with rice cakes, sugar snap peas and carrots. In the afternoon we had a visit from a dental hygienist who talked about why it is important to clean our teeth every morning and evening. She showed us some photos that had good and bad teeth and shared some great advice; brush your teeth twice a day, go to the dentist for a regular check up and no sugary foods before your tea!

Spelling in Year 2
Children have five spellings to learn for each week of this half term. Please take time each week to help your child learn their spellings. The impact of learning their spellings can be seen in their reading and writing throughout the curriculum and is so important.
Children will still be tested each Monday on the spellings listed for that week by writing them in dictated sentences.
We appreciate your help with their learning.

AFTER SATS FUN!
We set the year 6 children a series of maths challenges. They needed to solve the maths clues in teams that were hidden around the room. The clues led them to a 10 digit code that would enable them to escape the room! Thankfully some teams managed this before breaktime! Yikes! Well done Violet, Enoch and Ellie.
Lots of fun - well done Year 6!

Would you eat a green tea Kit Kat? Or a strawberry cheesecake one? What about a tomato flavoured one?!
Is there anything inside a flower?

How many times have you wondered what the inside of a flower looks like? 5HC have! They've been looking very closely at the parts of plants and flowers, and were amazed to learn that plants can be male, female or both!
