Why did Victorian girls not learn maths?

Today our children had the chance to experience life as a girl and a boy in the Victorian era. You might be surprised to find out that school was very different for boys and girls. Boys were able to learn maths, science, history and geography, where as some girls didn’t even go to school! They were often taught at home by governess’!
