Designing and building bridges!

Date: 17th Dec 2019 @ 10:12pm

We had an incredible morning putting all our D&T knowledge into practice as we designed and made a bridge, as part of our "Inventions" unit this half term. With Mark, from The Learning Partnership, as our guide, we worked in role as engineers who were comissioned to invent a prototype for a bridge over the canal - the design had to have a span of at least 1 metre and be able to move so that it opened for boats to still be able to travel along the canal. We used hinges, pivot points, counter balances, triangular beams, cantilevers...the language and skills applied were fabulous! We also really used our learning powers - lots of co-operation and resilience were needed!

Check out our photos (and a little video!) to see!
