Good morning Year 6! I hope you managed to find something kind to do for someone yesterday - I cooked dinner for my sister and my housemate (I think they enjoyed it!) What kind thing will you do today? I might send a card to someone I've been missing and not seen for a while, just to let them know I'm thinking of them.

As always, today's learning is linked here: https://padlet.com/y6homelearning/nxkcu8zxxd8kmxo7

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, today I thought I'd post some guidance on how you can be kind to yourselves while you are at home:

1. Focus on the things you enjoy
Why not try:
creating things (e.g. drawing, painting, writing, crafting), playing games or puzzles, decorating, or spending time (safely) watching content you enjoy on social media or streaming sites.

2. Connect with others
Why not try: different ways of keeping in touch to find the ones that work best (e.g. video-calls, quizzes or games with friends) in an amount that works for you.

3. Find your routine
Why not try
picking three things to do each day, breaking your day up into chunks, or planning regular mealtimes and bedtimes.

4. Move your body
Why not try:
a form of exercise that you already do, a new type of exercise, a stretch on the sofa, working out with a friend over video-chat, or a dance around your room!  (Yes Fortnite dances count as exercise!)

5. Focus on what you can control
There are a lot of confusing things happening at the moment, most of which are completely out of your control. Focus instead on what you can do, keep yourself busy, help around the house, complete some school work. It is important to also realise what you can't control and accept this.

6. Be realistic, you don't have to be super productive every day!
There has been a huge amount of change to daily life, and it may not be realistic to expect yourself to be as productive as you were before. If you find yourself feeling a bit unmotivated, or like you haven’t got as much done in a day as you usually would, that’s okay.
Try this: Write yourself a list of things you'd like to achieve this week. Rank them in order of importance. On the days you feel more motivated, aim for things at the top of the list. On days where you aren't feeling as producitve, fill your day with more creative or relaxing activities from the end of the list.

Hope this helps - I know I will be using this list to help me stay positive and kind to myself and others while I am at home!
